Food Fellowship

Fellowship through Food

Gatherings at Fairmount often involve meals and potlucks, but some food-focused events deserve special mention. Contact the church office or check the calendar to see when they are next scheduled.

Progressive Dinner

Fairmount hosts a large progressive dinner each late fall as a way for people to become better acquainted.

Dinner Circles

Small dinner groups are formed each winter. The groups are made up of 8 adults who share dinner throughout the year. The format is flexible, and decided upon by each group at their first dinner gathering. Usually, the host prepares the main course and the other members bring additional courses such as salad, side dishes, dessert, etc. Hosts can pick a theme, such as “Foods From India”, “Heart-Healthy Foods”, or “Recipes You’ve Never Tried”.

Wednesday Meal

The Wednesday meal serves an average of 80 people every week during the school year from every generation in the Fairmount Avenue family. This meal is intended to be a time of fellowship with one another.

Ice Cream Social

Summer fellowship is celebrated in July with an old fashioned Ice Cream Social on the church lawn. The entire congregation as well as the neighborhood is invited.

Homemade pies and ice cream are sold to benefit United Methodist Women mission projects. Our celebration is highlighted by a performance from the children who just completed Vacation Bible School.

Harvest Dinner

A Harvest Dinner has been an October highlight for over 50 years. Turkey, chef carved roast beef, all the trimmings, and homemade pumpkin pie are served by United Methodist Women and youth.

Homemade peanut brittle and baked goods are also available at this time and all proceeds go toward United Methodist Women mission projects.

All Church Picnic

Every summer there is a gathering after church one Sunday in a local park.
